Lumin, Uruguay invests in Raute's latest panel repairing technology

Lumin in Uruguay has decided to invest in Raute’s latest panel repairing technology. The automated Panel Repair Station R5, which includes advanced machine vision technology, will be used to repair pine and eucalyptus plywood panels.

The state-of-the-art equipment will allow Lumin to save on repair material and labor costs, increase capacity, and ensure consistent panel quality. The Panel Repair Station R5 is a compact, plug-and-play solution that will be fully tested at Raute’s factory before shipping.

This patented solution fits into the same space as a traditional manual repair cell and no foundations are needed. Space-saving is achieved by repairing panels directly in a stack on the topmost panel.

“This new project is significant for Lumin and will enable more stable production at our Tacuarembó Mill. The investment aligns with our industrial strategy for continuous improvement, focusing on utilizing cutting-edge technology to drive efficiencies and minimize environmental impact,” says Daniel Bidault, Mill Manager of Lumin.

This delivery marks the first time this solution has been supplied to Latin America. Having already proven its value in the U.S. market with multiple repeat orders, it demonstrates strong demand and reliability across the industry. The delivery is estimated to take place by the end of 2025.
